Hmm, may be we should charge a membership fee; say HK$ 100,000 per year per head ...
People coming here and talking rubbish will get a fine too ... people would be more careful when it money is involved ...

If the web layout can be categorize according to each subject, it provides a link to user, who can save time and skip thru any unwanted topic. Or set up a rule that only allows user initialized the topic once only. To participate the web posting, that person must be registered as a member who must be responsible for any wrong comment. Any member can express what he like, but no swear language and explicated sex comment.

文明交流討論，誰都可以發言！已經很公平了呀！
爭論激烈些，也很好呀！誰失去風度，不能保持文明態度，是自己失禮而已！大家照正常享用平台就好啦！

這裏還是個小團體，我想不用搞個甚麼聯席會議，檢委會來過濾言論吧！我想只有在萬不得已的情況下幹事才會把不適當的留言刪掉。這個判斷的工作，就留給幹事做吧，當然大家仍是有質疑的權利的。真的有具爭議的個案時，再檢討也不遲。只是言論，不是殺人放火，誰個被不公平的言論所傷害，眾人也不會就手旁觀的，這是天理吧。小團體用天理和良知來管理較易運作，這是我的想法。

Okay, with membership, we know the identity of the people posting messages here. This is not a problem.
But even with membership; how do we decide if and what messages are appropriate or not? some form of censorship and filtering is the answer, but who decides the standards (what is and what is not acceptable)?
and even if we can find a solution to decide on the standards; how do we stop people from posting inappropirate messages? do we give peopel warnings and then ban them from coming here - even though he is a Pui Shing old boy?
I don't know, but I see that it will get more and more complicated ... surely we are all adults and Pui Shing old boys and therefore should be able to maintain some sort of self-discipline here, right?

再從技術層面看，改良留言版肯定是好事。更多功能讓使用者用來更方便，更個人化，也使（技術上的）表達和溝通更容易。
在使用者的角度看，有心上來留言的不會因要登記的不來，反而會 feel more secure。會員制度也不會距絶訪客的留言。
我個人的看法是：言論當然有自由，但說話的人要自負言責，這個也很重要，這裏不會（也不能）因某人說些被認為不當的話拉他出來幹掉，但讓一群守規則的人較容易分辨誰是真人，誰是布偶，這個也很公道吧。

Interesting development ... we should ask ourselves the questoins:
* how many people actually come to this site and post messages? my guess is ~20 or so ...
* would introduction of membership help to bring more or less people to come to this site? Mmy guess is perhaps less ...
* Why are we considering introduction of membership? my guess is that there are unwelcome messages posted here and we want to stop them ...
* With only a few people coming to this site, why are there unwelcome messages posted here? my guess is that it all started with someone keeps on posting a certain subject matter all over the place, some of the remarks made were offensive and as a result, some othes responded with some unkind words...looking back, the site was fine for a long time even there is no membership ...
* how do we stop undesirable people coming here posting offensive messages? my guess is that membership system and filtering posts would only push people away ... my guess is if we all ignore the undesirable messages ... undesirable characters would simply get bored and go away...
* Is the voting system here a fair way to decide matters? My guess is no, as the public would never know what the votes are (note that even two same IP addresses do not neccesarily mean someone voted twice!! Two different people can have the same IP address!!!) we should treat voting as a game and not too seriously ...
It is simple logic that we all come here while there is fun ... don't force it ... !

九萬里, Keith Chan and all the Pui Shingers
I totally agree with your proposals.
Recently I found there are lots of fight and argument in here some were very nasty and offensive making that reading this blog is more nuiasnce than pleasure.
Here are my suggestions
1. Only the PS students, teachers and employees have the right of
becoming the members of this club.
2. People who wants to be a member need to be registered first.
3. A back ground check will be followed on every applican
4. Member is allowed to use any name however h/s profile will be
shown up on this blog.

可以是全自動也可手控。但全自動失了核證的意義。我想登記的人初期會多一點，平常不會太多，可以應付吧。反而誰個用那個名字登記會有點問題，例如我們不知誰是培聖人1000，那誰搶先以此名字登記的就會是新系統的培聖人1000了。
或許我們可以勾些名字出來拍賣吧。

讓我從技術層面談談我個人的看法。現時我們用的這個討論區的功能非常簡單，除留言外，可以說甚麼功能也沒有，就是超連結，也是最近才加的新功能，是幾位幹事與幾位 ISP 負責人開了個多鐘頭會所得的其中一個小結果（還要付錢）。
要改變首要把討論區軟件更新，使它有會員登記功能。我的想法是會員要經校友會核證，才能以會員身份留言，會員有 profile，能顯示個人頭像，個人語句，上來了多少次，留了多少言，甚至部份或全部的 IP 地址。不想登記的也可以任何名稱作訪客留言，不用登記，但留言有顯示他們訪客的身份，他們也不能用已登記會員作名字。
這只是我個人的想法，還請大家多多討論。
